Winchester Bay...

I chose Winchester Bay and the Winchester Bay RV Resort because it looked relaxing (and because the reviews I read were good) and was not disappointed. The sites are paved and level, well maintained and have views of the water. We had a comfortable pull-thru site with a good view of the Umpqua River where it meets the Pacific. I could have spent hours looking at the view...and probably did!

The towns of Winchester Bay and neighboring Reedsport are tiny and quaint. There's lots of fishing, some boating and ATV'ing and a few shops and restaurants. We're not into fishing, boating, and ATV'ing but we are into eating, so when we weren't busy relaxing we tried a few restaurants.

Ron's Main Street Family Restaurant was inexpensive and served typical diner type food and a very good homemade peanut butter pie.

Kitty's Kitchen Is Christmas Forever is a kitschy place, only open for a few hours a day, a few days a week. There are some pretty clocks and there was some Christmas paraphernalia displayed but not nearly as much as I expected to see, given the name. In the center are a few communal dining room tables with lace tablecloths where you can sit and eat. We sat, ate, and enjoyed a pleasant conversation with a couple from Grants Pass, OR who seemed to be regulars. The meatloaf sandwich was delicious!
We went to the Harbor Light Restaurant several times. Dinner was good, Jack was partial to their Apple Crisp and I loved their breakfast.

We took a ride up to Florence one afternoon...Jack's Dad had lived there at one time and he wanted to see it.  We walked around Old Town a little (walking's not been my strong point since I broke my toe), bought some Salt Water Taffy and ate at Mo's Seafood Restaurant which is a regional chain...the view of the water was great, the food was only so-so.

We enjoyed our week in Winchester Bay and could have stayed for another week had we not had reservations waiting in Seattle.
