Welcome to North Dakota...

North Dakota has intrigued me for a long time. It seems a cold and desolate area, often forgotten by the rest of the country. It is, in fact, America's least visited state and it's precisely for this reason that I've always wanted to go there.

Montana brought us near so, when we were leaving, I decided to alter our route to take us to North Dakota. We only had a couple of days to spend there and decided to go to Medora and see Theodore Roosevelt National Park...number 5 on the New York Times list of 52 places to visit in 2016!

Medora is a tiny town with a population of 129, a few shops and restaurants, and Theodore Roosevelt Park as its backyard. Medora Campground is a fairly new RV park only a half mile from the TR Park entrance. We had a level, gravel pull-thru site with full hook-ups and a nice view.

Theodore Roosevelt Park has a thirty-six mile loop through the badlands and we spent our one afternoon there driving the loop. Besides the breathtaking views, we saw huge buffalo, horses, antelope and prairie dogs. I took lots of pictures. After our drive we had some dinner at the Little Missouri Dining Room and Saloon. The honey-infused chicken was good.

The next morning I added a new state to my map and we headed south on US 85 to the South Dakota Black Hills...a favorite of ours.
